Situation:

New W11 PC P3Dv5 / Networked Laptop (W11) with Simbrief downloader.

Folder to access: C:\P3Dv5\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS\NGXu (shared)

I cannot acces and write f.i. a textfile to that folder. So Simbrief Downloader cannot do it too.

The shares (both on C:\P3Dv5 and the NGXu are on full control.

I tried every trick I could find online, but so far no succes. It went perfectly well on the old PC but not on the new one. OK, I can save the .rte file in the download section of the new PC and then copy it to the correct location. But sure it must be possible the easy and direct way.

Who can help me?

Hello,

Sounds like a permissions issue. Carefully follow the guidance below.

  1. NTFS Security Permissions
  2. Check Network Profile,
    1. On both PCs, go to Settings > Network & internet > Ethernet (or Wi-Fi).
    2. Ensure the network profile type is set to Private network.
  3. Network Drive Map
    1. open File Explorer, click the three dots at the top menu, and select Map network drive.
    2. Assign it a letter (like Z:\) and point it to your shared folder path.
    3. Check both Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using different credentials. When prompted, enter the exact Windows username and password of your main PC.
    4. Point the SimBrief Downloader to save directly to this new Z:\ drive.

Thanks Gordon. I suddenly found another way. Let’s see if the next Windows Update will spoil the fun (again).
