In planning flights for the 777-300ER and 777F, I’ve noticed that the maximum cost index when left in auto for these planes is 200 and 170 respectively. Since there are many airlines that routinely come close to those cost indices during normal operation, would it be possible to increase the max CI number to a higher amount?
Speaking specifically for the 777F, 170 approximates Long Range Cruise. Per the Boeing FMS Substantiation document, 150/170 run parallel to the LRC curve at higher gross weights.
The max is 999, but you don’t gain much of anything above CI-600 or so.
