Difference between Navigraph and "reality"?

Post by datguytho » Mon Apr 03, 2017 8:47 pm

Hello,
first off - this seems probably like a very stupid question to some of you. But Im new to Navigraph and would like to know whether there are general differences between real world Data and The data offered by Navigraph. I mean both FMS Data and Charts. How does this even work in real life? Which data is used?

In other words: Is Navigraph "realistic"?

Thanks in advance

Hi....(Please sign posts with your real name)

Welcome.

Navigraph Charts and FMS Data are provided by real world providers and are very realistic (see 3rd paragraph on realism here).

That said, they must not be used for real world flying.

Cheers

In addition, the Products main page (https://www.navigraph.com/Products.aspx) says:

Although the aeronautical data used in these products originates from suppliers within the real world aviation industry, and may seem up to date and accurate, the data has also been downsampled, merged and interpolated. Furthermore, the data is only made available in formats non-standard to the aviation industry. Therefore, the data must never be used for real-world flight navigation. It is dangerous and may also be unlawful. Navigraph will assume no responsibility for consequences arising from improper use of the data. The data distributed by Navigraph is for non-professional computer simulated flight only.
