I have been using Navigraph data in many different aircraft on Xbox for years, and I wanted to report something that might have been reported before, but this is my first time on the forum:
If you have an Airac cycle installed in the aircraft, it is simply not possible to update it when a new cycle is available. Every single aircraft I use (PMDG 736, 737, 738, 777s, Inibuilds a350, a340 etc) will fail to update to the latest cycle.
The only way to as of now update to the newest cycle is to delete the reserved space on the Xbox.
This is an unacceptable solution because it resets your entire library. For example; It resets every livery specific setting for the PMDG aircraft. On xbox, the company specific equipment list (which is very extensive) has to be manually set as opposed to PC where they come finished with the liveries. This alone takes hours*,* if not several days of work to set up.
If you are one of the few people who have 5-10 addons in your library, this isn’t that big of an issue, but I have close to a hundred. And it really is a ton of work to enable and disable and set up the entire library - too much work to do once a month. What i have ended up doing is to use the same cycle for 6 months to a year because of all the work it would entail to use the correct one.
Hopefully the navigraph team will be able to come up with a solution to this.
In the PMDG 777 v 2.04.141 for MSFS 2024 and v 2.00.130 for MSFS 2020, you can update your Navigraph navigation data in the EFB without error. These versions are available in the PMDG Operations Center OC3.
The PMDG operations center is not available or applicable for Xbox users. Xbox is a closed system that doesn’t allow any applications, or tampering with files in any way shape or form. The UI for something like this simply doesn’t exist.
We are at the mercy of asobo/microsoft, and developers with products on the marketplace.
Yes, I am not sure the issue was quite captured here, as I explained;
On Xbox we can only update through the EFB, and currently this doesn’t work properly. If there is a cycle already installed, you can’t update to a newer one. This is the issue.
That would be great if PMDG managed to solve this in the 777;
However my inquiry is that this issue pertains to every single aircraft on the Xbox that uses Navigraph navdata. I personally have over 10 different aircraft from PMDG and Inibuilds, and they all suffer from the same exact issue.
Airac cycle already downloaded = Impossible to update to new cycle when it releases.
And it has been like this for months, if not more than a year.
When you update your navigation data through the EFB, what exactly happens? Please provide screenshots showing the issue using Guide to posting Screenshots.
I stand corrected. My sincerest apologies for being stubborn!
In the A350 1.2.6 it is indeed working as intended. When updating it, it initially doesn’t work, but upon restarting the flight after exiting to the main menu, it does work.
It seems the issue is with the PMDG aircraft. Updating generates a failure message, and restarting the flight from main menu does not fix this.
