Hello,

I am Japanese and cannot speak English, so I am writing with translation
software. I apologize if my wording is strange or impolite.

I am not a software engineer and not a pilot, just a flight simulator fan
in my 50s. I have been flying on PC since the PC-98 era and have used
SimBrief for a long time. But I have to admit that even after all this
time, I could not really read the OFP. Not the numbers, but the words:
CONT, FINRES, EFOB, MORA. Machine translation does not work on
abbreviations, and there is almost nothing about them in Japanese.

So I built a small free web tool for myself. It shows the original OFP
text on the left, and a plain Japanese explanation on the right, side by
side. It never hides or replaces the original text.

I have read the pinned topics before writing this. My tool uses the fetch
endpoint with &json=v2, only when the user presses a button, one request
per press. There is no polling and no background job. I also cache
responses for 2 minutes so repeated presses do not reach your server.

I would like to ask three things before I publish it.

1. To build the Japanese explanation, I read “text.plan\_html” and display
its contents as the original text. I understand this is the OFP that
SimBrief itself generates, so I want to be sure this is acceptable to
you. If it is not, I will stop using it.

2. My tool draws two simple pictures from the OFP text: a vertical
profile (altitude against distance) and a small wind/runway compass.
They contain no map, no coastline, and no geographic accuracy, and
they cannot be used for navigation. But I saw in the Navigraph FAQ
that pictorial renditions are not encouraged, so I want to ask
directly. I can remove them if you prefer.

3. Is there any wording you would like me to use? I will state clearly
that the tool is unofficial, not made by Navigraph or SimBrief, free
of charge, and for flight simulation use only.

I have not published the tool yet. I would like to wait for your answer
first.

If it is easier for you, I am happy to send the details to
[support@simbrief.com](mailto:support@simbrief.com) instead. Please just tell me.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hi, thanks for the detailed description.

All of this is perfectly fine:

1. `text.plan_html` is the correct data to read if you want to display the OFP.
2. Drawing the SimBrief route, vertical profile, and/or runway compass is fine. The restriction applies more to drawing charts or navigation data on a map.
3. These disclaimers are fine. 🙂

Best regards,

Thank you very much for the clear answers. This is exactly what I needed.

Point 2 is especially helpful to understand — my diagrams have no map at
all, so I will keep them as they are.

I will publish the tool with the disclaimers as described, and I will
keep it free and clearly unofficial. If SimBrief ever changes anything
that affects how I read the OFP, I will follow it.

Thank you for building SimBrief, and for taking the time to answer a
hobby user like me.
