New WASF doesn't exist in the simulator

Hello. I am trying to plan a flight to WASF airport in West Papua, Indonesia, however there are some conflicts. Navigraph has charts and procedures for the new airport in Siboru (runway 15/33), but the airport doesn’t exist in MSFS 2020, not even a scenery exists. However, if I search for WASF in the FMC, I get the old airport, in Torea (runway 10/28) which does exist. Does anybody know the solution to that problem?

WASF exists in the Navigraph database albeit with just the RNV 33 approach.

Unfortunately MSFS 2020 has the airport with rwy 10/28, so there will likely be issues for some aircraft.

You should continue to search for addon scenery for WASF in MSFS 2020.

Cheers

Ian

What I don’t get is why I get the old airport in most airplanes, like HondaJet (G3000) and Citation X and I get the new airport in airliners like the PMDG 737. They all got the latest AIRAC.

The reason for this is that such add-ons use the in-game MSFS dataset, not an external one. We also offer the in-game MSFS dataset, but we must follow their rules and accept their copyrights - so, we may not change incorrect ICAO codes, runway identifiers, or names.

That is not the case, however, when we can offer all our data and the add-ons utilize a comprehensive, independent dataset, such as PMDG, TDS, Fenix, Inibuilds, Justflight, iFly, Maddog, Milviz, Aerosoft, etc. Here, the add-on developer can work directly with our data. Therefore, you won´t usually see any outdated airports or runways.

We highly recommend using an external dataset too (at least as an option) to be independent from sim-updates, world-updates, or any other changes in the sim (2020 and 2024) - Inibuilds is a good example for that. They offer both “worlds”, the sim-world for all users without a Navigraph subscription (but with all the limitations), and also a fully worldwide support external dataset with all the correct airports, runways, and so on.

It is nothing what we have in our hands, sorry. As you can see (and also confirmed by Ian), we have this airport with the terminal procedures, but we cannot change the old ICAO code to the new one in the sim due to regulations.

Cheers,
Richard
