Can I use FSX to do the Virtual Flight academy?
Hi! At launch Academy is supported on MSFS2020 and MSFS2024.
I only have FSX SE & P3D v4.5
I do not own MSFS2020/MSFS2024
Does this mean I canāt do the Classes?
Unfortunately, yes, for the moment.
As mtrankell mentioned, Academy supports MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 at launch.
Regarding the exams: Is it possible to get the correct answer for the question and not only a hint for the category of the wrong answered question?
I love the Navigraph Academy, great quality, great lessons, great tutors. Thank you for developing it for us.
I wanted to highlight a possible improvement that would apply to Lesson 8. Traffic Pattern and possible others Iāve not seen yet.
The review page gives useful feedback and the flight path track shown at the top of the page helps but it would help more if the path followed for the section of the flight I have clicked on was in a different colour and the map was āpinnedā at the top so I could scroll through and click the different evaluated elements without having to scroll back up to the top to reference the map. Or, each track could be a different colour and the feedback in the review show the colour track it relates to. A crude illustration below.

Thank you Navigraph Academy for a wonderful course. There were some rough moments with the stall lesson and Iām not sure what was going in msfs 2024 with turbulence during the slow flight lesson, but those are minor niggles in an incredible offering.
I have learned so much and feel proud having completed it all. Itās more meaningful to me than I can express here so Iāll just say thank you again!

Hello, hope you donāt mind some minor feedback on your lessons.
One thing about these is that (for the first several, anyway) you start in the air, actively flying. The issue I have run into is that for those of us with throttle quadrants / joysticks / etc, there can be issues with where the throttles are on our equipment vs. where the lesson expects them to be / puts them in the loaded lesson when we start the flight. For instance if my throttle is idle from a previous landing, then the second I touch it after starting the lesson, my throttle goes to idle (since thatās where it senses it to be on the axis) and I have to suddenly make major adjustments to recover to somewhere near where it should be.
This can be disorienting to newer pilots and divert their attention from where it needs to be. May I suggest adding a quick āprep stepā to the lessons that start mid-flight, telling the student, e.g. āBefore starting this lesson, put your throttle at about 50%, flaps should be x, etcā. Obviously we donāt know the exact position or even know the RPMs until weāre flying, but a general ballpark should serve to reduce the huge deviation that occurs when we begin adjusting the controls.
Also question on the Ground Ops. I remember getting dinged flying a mission for shutting off the beacons / lights before shutting down my engines; I donāt quite remember if this was in career mode or if it was in a third party mission, but their instructions were to not shut off the lights until after the engine was off; the explanation being the lights are a visual indicator of an active aircraft and giving that extra margin of safety. In fact your startup procedures say to turn on the beacons to warn of an impending startup. Can you comment on why you instruct to turn them off before shutting down the engine?
Final nitpick: In the introduction you have a setup video to go through setting up the views, etc. go get things matching your video. I followed all of these to the letter. However I had a lot of trouble in the pattern lesson because I could not for the life of me get the left-looking views to display properly; I could never see the runway or airport to see the abeam / 45 degree points because the top of the door frame was always obscuring them. After some tweaking I found that the āHeightā setting of 72 you say to use was way too high in my caseā¦ I dropped it back to the default of 50 and had a much better view of everything and was able to properly see my action points and properly line up for final without having to guess and under/overshoot the runway because I couldnāt see it at all out those two left views and kept failing because I was missing the last two checkpoints.
If nothing else I hope this helps others who are having trouble with that lesson and the views. Otherwise the lessons are great so far. Look forward to more and hopefully in your future lessons youāll include interaction with the G1000ā¦ huge learning curve for me there, Iām getting it but could have used a beginnerās guide that would be perfect for your future training material in development.

Can we use an aircraft different than the default 172 with GPS. For example, the WB-SIM 172 or the JP Logistics 152. I only really fly the A2A Comanche now, I realize that it is not a good aircraft for initial pilot training, but I want to review licence material and maneuvers which I was already certified for.
The default Cessna 172 was chosen as it is one of the most popular and modern trainer aircraft and that it is available for everybody on the MSFS2020/2024 platform.
I would recommend you posting this in the Academy wishlist, however, it would be interesting to discuss.
So I have the obvious question of all of your graduates from the Virtual PPL academy. Is there a target date for the launches of either the instrument or IFR approach classes yet?
I LOVED taking the PPL class, and showed the Navigraph love on social media.

Hello, I have been taking a slow approach, going through each lesson with a few days in between each lesson. sometimes maybe a week or two, depending on how busy real life gets. I have noticed I get an email, āGreat job on your first lesson, ready for the Next?ā after passing each lesson. I just passed lesson 6 today and got the email for the 6th time.
