Good Morning, I wanted to ask a question on the nav data used when flying to a Greek Island.

I have been trying to do some flights where I leave LIRN and was originally looking at LGSR, but I checked the flight plan and I am only given a flight level of FL180, it’s a 1.20hr with a distance of around 620nm, flight and would normally expect to have a higher flight level than that. I have checked flights from LIRN to LGNX, LGKO and LGRP. Simbrief always gives me a FL of FL180.

I have checked a flight, which is shorter EGKK to EGPH and that gives me a FL of FL360. IS there any reason I am getting a low FL when flying into the Greece area? I am flying the Fenix A320 with a CI of 25. Latest AIRAC and it’s being flown in MSFS 2024, not that that makes much difference to flight planning.

Any feedback would be very welcome as flying at that level makes for a longer than expected flight time.

Like most airways in Italian airspace nowadays, the default route’s initial airway (M742) seems capped to FL195 (which gives FL180 for the direction of flight). When I plan this flight with the default route, I get:

LIRN/06 F180 GALTI7G GALTI M742 LUNAR/F370 DCT LATAN DCT TRL UM601 MIL B34 PEXAN PEXAN1E LGSR/15

That’s only FL180 until LUNAR (approx 55 miles away from the airport), then a climb to FL370 for the rest of the flight, for over 400 nautical miles until top of descent. If you’re using the default LIDO layout, this will show on the first page as:

FL STEPS LIRN/0180/LUNAR/0370
