iniBuild Tristar L1011- always FL380-390?

Why does SimBrief always assign a high flight level of 380-390 for the L-1011 on all routes, even very short ones (where it’s not even possible to reach that flight level)?
I’m using the airframe "G-STAR iniBuilds L-1011-500 Airliner.”

Are you selecting AUTO in the cruise altitude selection, rather than a fixed flight level?

Since your using a custom airframe, the aircrafts climb/cruise/descent performance is inherited from whatever base profile the uploader built it on. SimBrief normally steps the cruise level on short sectors, that works out whether the aircraft can realistically climb up to and descend down from a given level within the distance available. If the airframe’s base profile uses numbers that are too optimistic for a real L1011, SimBrief will calculate whether it can reach FL380 in less distance than it actually can, so it never steps down.

A quick test co confirm,

  • Run a short route with one or two of the built in airframes. If AUTO steps the altitude down correctly there, you’ll know its the profile causing the issue rather than SimBrief itself.
