How to uninstall Navigraph data from FSX for a specific aircraft?

Hi, I need to uninstall the Navigraph data in FSX for my PMDG 777 but I can’t work out how I do this without uninstalling Navigraph completely which I do not want to do, so I would like to know how to do this for a specific aircraft? As far as I can see there doesn’t seem to be any facility in the Navigraph FMS Data Manager to allow me to do it?

The reason I am asking this question is that I have recently started flying my PMDG 777 again in FSX after a gap of about a year (I generally fly a specific aircraft type for a month or two and then move on to another). However the problem with the PMDG 777 is that the localiser/glideslope diamonds are not showing (even though the correct ILS frequency, DME etc are showing up on the MFD and the correct freq/course is on the Nav/Rad page of the FMC) so I end up by default having to execute an LNAV/VNAV approach. I have searched through the PMDG forums and it seems that these issues date to back to a 777 update from PMDG last October (which explains why I did not have this problem when flying the 777 about a year ago!) and the solution appears to be to uninstall the Navigraph data and reinstall fresh data. I should add that I am a very experienced simmer and this problem appears to be confined to the PMDG 777 - I have run test flights using other airliners such as the Quality WIngs 787, iFly 737 and i Fly 747, Blackbox Airbus and FT E-jets and all behave correctly and I have been able to shoot ILS approaches in them without any similar problems occurring.

Some guidance on how to delete the Navigraph data for the PMDG 777 would therefore be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,
But when you install fresh data, the old data will be overwritten. So you don’t need to remove any data; when you remove the data, the T7 won’t work any longer due to the missing navdata.

So, my recommendation is:
Either install fresh data or, when you need the default data of the T7, re-install the PMDG 777. After that, you have the default data from the setup installed.

Removing it is not recommended…

I hope that helps
Richard

Hi Richard,
Many thanks for the very fast reply! Just to clarify, as I may not have been entirely clear, I hadn’t actually intended to leave the T7 without any navdata, I just wanted to temporarily revert to the default PMDG T7 data and then update with fresh Navigraph data (the theory in the PMDG forums being that the data may have been corrupted in some way by the PMDG T7 update last October and remained on the system).

I had already tried a simple refresh of the Navigraph data but that did not resolve the issue so I might try uninstalling and reinstalling the 777 to bring it back to a default state as you suggest and then reinstall fresh Navigraph data to see if that helps

Thank you again for your advice and suggestions,
Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks, Bill. Is it possible this is not a T7 issue but an FSX issue? You wrote that any ILS frequency is not working correctly.

Could it be that the FSX ILS frequency is outdated and the PMDG frequency that you are using is up to date?

The FSX stock data are ancient, and it is possible that some frequencies will not work any longer.

Have you an example airport/ILS?

Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard, I had wondered if it was an FSX issue too given that FSX is so old, so before starting this thread I had cross-checked the ILS frequencies of the airports in question with the Navigraph ILS data and the frequencies were the same. Indeed I also opened the AFCAD files for the airports where the issue first arose (Shannon, Aberdeen, and Liege - all payware addon airports) and the frequencies were correct for the ILS I was trying to use.

I did quite a bit of forum trawling when I encountered this problem and on the PMDG forum there are a couple of threads describing a very similar issue affecting MSFS users of PMDG aircraft which seem to date to a PMDG update of last October so I don’t think this is specific to FSX. I have also done multiple tests at Shannon using different airliners that have Navigraph installed, as I mentioned in my first post, and all of these performed perfectly with the localiser/glideslope diamonds appearing when close to the airport enabling a transition to an ILS approach so it does seem that it might be related to that PMDG update.

Anyway I think I will just bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall the 777 and then add Navigraph to it once again and hopefully that will resolve the issue.
Many thanks for all your help which I very much appreciate. I must say Navigraph support is second to none!
Cheers,
Bill
