Many airlines now are moving away from fixed cost indexes, since it is proved that a variable cost index can be more fuel efficient. Using designated apps whose algorithms take into consideration flight altitude, tailwind or headwind component, Zero Fuel Weight and other factors, cost index varies from flight to flight.
I believe it would add a touch of extra realism for the community if we could have a realistic cost index calculator.
